A woman from London, Ontario was fined $500 for crashing her car and accidentally killing a bystander two years ago.
Maxine McCaulay, who had a sleep disorder, was charged with dangerous driving, causing the death of Mary McNamara and injuries to Marlene Klein.
The initial charges were withdrawn and McCaulay pleaded guilty to careless driving.
Back in February 2008, McCaulay was seen by motorists driving carelessly on the road. There was no evidence of alcohol consumption, and her attorney submitted a health record that showed she suffered from a sleep disorder—which has been said to be the primary cause of the road accident.
The 53-year-old McCaulay is now being treated for her condition.
