Despite the 18 million Americans suffering from sleep apnea and other sleeping disorders, a woman from Houston has been able to conquer it all through a simple visit to the Texas Medical Center. For almost ten years, assistant high school principal Susan Hasse had been battling apnea each evening until she found a cure.
Hasse was quoted as saying that she in fact “went to a doctor and said ‘I must not be aging well because I am so tired.’” It was only later that she found out she was suffering from sleep apnea, a condition wherein the muscles in the throat contract and produce an air obstruction.
After remaining troubled for seven years using a machine and undergoing throat surgery, Hasse finally discovered that she had an extremely deviated septum. Dr. Tang Ho performed surgery on her nose, removing the damaged septum and finally ending her days with apnea.
