Did you know that one out of every six Americans suffer from sleep disorder? The symptoms of a sleep disorder are very feint, that’s why most people tend to ignore it. But, some of these disorders are closely linked to early-age deaths, as well as other major problems.

To try to make people more aware of the condition, Winthrop University Hospital will be discussing sleep disorders as a part of the organization’s free lecture series titled “Perspectives in Health.” The discussion will be held at the University’s Community Outreach Center on October 20.

Leading the discussion will be Dr. Qanta Ahmed—the attending physician at the Winthrop Sleep Disorders Center. Dr. Ahmed will deliver a brief overview of the condition, including its symptoms, its diagnostic process, and its treatment options. He will also discuss possible causes for the condition.
