Have you ever caught someone sleeping on the job? The next time you do, ask him if he suffers from a sleep disorder. If he does, give him more leeway.
More than 50,000 Americans are diagnosed with a sleep disorder, and a glaring two million Americans have undiagnosed narcolepsy. This sleep disorder is marked by sudden and uncontrollable urges to sleep, causing sufferers to fall asleep during inappropriate times.
People with narcolepsy need to contribute more effort to their daily tasks compared to others. Whether it’s in the work place or the class room, these people need to be given more leeway and proper treatment.
So, the next time you catch someone sleeping on the job, go the extra mile in asking them whether he/she has a sleep disorder.
