Taiwanese doctors are using a minimally invasive surgery to treat the effects of snoring.
Dr. Cheng Yu Lin and Dr. Jiunn-Liang Wu says that the primary effects of snoring does not include sleep apnea. However, primary snoring is a potential indicator of sleep apnea.
The two doctors have developed a procedure that treats the primary effects of snoring. The procedure uses heat in the form of radio frequency ablation to shrink soft palate tissue.
In a study, 76 percent of 60 patients were observed post-operatively for three years, and they said they were more than satisfied with the treatment.
The study was a long term project. Its results were recently presented to the American Academy of Otolaryngology.
