This March, considered as National Bed Month, the Sleep Council recommends sleeping longer hours in order to stay healthy, happier and more mentally alert, as well as to prolong one’s life. According to Sleep Council member Jessica Alexander, “Sleep really is the answer to feeling and looking your best.”

Alexander further explains that there are people out there who go through great lengths of eating and exercising but not sleep. She says that all efforts to stay healthy will be in vain without enough sleep. Alexander further expounds that unlike natural diets, the benefits of ‘sleep’ are felt almost immediately.

Meanwhile, sleep expert Dr. Stanley says that “sleep is so vitally important to good health that it’s a mystery to me that more emphasis is not placed on the health benefits of a good bed for sleep. Good sleep should be seen as a vital part of a healthy lifestyle like exercise and diet and just as you would invest in the right gear to exercise and buying healthy food so you should invest in purchasing a comfortable bed.”
