Did you know that sleep problems can lead to other health problems?

Dr. Sushrut Patel says that interrupted sleep can affect blood pressure, resulting in high blood pressure. He said: “Sleep disorders are linked to a greater risk of heart attack, stroke, irregular heartbeat and heart failure.”

Insufficient sleep also impairs the ability to use insulin, which can trigger diabetes. Sleep problems are also linked to weight gain. In fact, recent studies have centered on proving a link between obesity and sleep problems.

Finally, lack of sleep can cause accidents, especially car accidents.

About 70 million Americans suffer from sleep disorders and it is fast becoming a serious problem. Most of these conditions can be easily diagnosed with ample attention. If you feel like you are experiencing sleep problems, have yourself checked in the nearest sleep center as soon as possible.
