The National Transportation Safety Board is recommending companies to test their drivers for sleep apnea. However, the recommendation will result in a logistical nightmare for managers. And that’s why Sleep HealthCenters is introducing a new program.
SleepPartners is a nationwide network of accredited sleep centers with top sleep specialists. The program offers medicine services in one big network. It will also offer corporate wellness and payer disease management programs.
According to its press release, the SleepPartners program is specifically designed for companies.
“Corporate wellness programs educate employees on the importance of sleep, screen employees for sleep disorders, diagnose those screened as high-risk and then provide treatment options and follow-up care,” explained Paul Valentine, CEO of Sleep HealthCenters. “The SleepPartners network members provide the flexibility and responsiveness critical to offering these services nationally.”
Sleep apnea is a major problem for Americans, but poses more serious threats for professional drivers. The condition disrupts sleep patterns, which causes a decrease in an individual’s quality of life.
The first step to treating this condition is identifying who has it. The SleepPartners program will aid in doing this. The program aligns more than 100 centers throughout the United States (US) and each of these centers is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine of Joint Commissions. Every center offers evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and management of sleep disorders.
