Most people who have sleep apnea aren’t even aware that they have it. Since the condition is becoming increasingly prevalent, specialists say that doctors should make it a habit to ask their patients about their sleep habits during routine check-ups.
Sleep apnea is characterized by abnormal pauses in between breaths during sleep. Other symptoms include: snoring, daytime sleepiness, and high-blood pressure. The condition shouldn’t be taken lightly. It’s linked to cardiovascular problems, obesity, and exhaustion. If you experience any of these symptoms, you should have yourself checked immediately. Usually, the condition is diagnosed through overnight observation of the patient.
Adults are not the only ones prone to the condition. It is also prevalent among children.
