Have you ever heard of Sexsomnia?

There are people that sleep walk, others talk. However, a recent study indicates that other people want to have sex when they’re sleeping. In fact, one out of 12 sleep disorder patients display this behavior.

Researchers reviewed over 800 medical charts from patients at a Toronto-based sleep center, and found that more than 60 patients were reported to perform sexual behaviors during sleep.

Sexsomnia is a form of parasomnia, a state where people are asleep and semi-aroused at the same time. The general symptom is that they perform engaging behaviors.

“At night you’re supposed to be sleeping,” explained lead researcher Sharon Chung, a scientist at the Sleep Research Laboratory at Toronto Western Hospital. “Anything that stops you from sleeping at night is bad—not because of the behavior, because it stops you from sleeping.”
