Most people don’t know that they have sleep disorders.
Carolyn Schur, a sleep expert, told the Vancouver Sun that proper diagnosis is necessary and sleep disorders can be caused by trauma, abuse, and anxiety.
Schur said that most doctors tend to deal with insomnia as if it was one entity.
“We’re starting to understand that the symptoms of not being able to sleep, not being able to stay asleep, and waking early are the criteria by which you diagnose insomnia,” explains Schur.
Sleep disorders are becoming a growing concern. These conditions are not only linked to heart problems and diabetes, it is also linked to vehicular accidents.
