Parents should be wary of children snoring  | read this item

Sleep experts say that people suffering from sleep apnea are more likely to be unaware of the disorder that is affecting them. Researchers agree that with the increasing cases of patients developing apnea, doctors should frequently ask their patients about their sleeping habits.

Some of the symptoms associated with sleep apnea are so common that people more often than not ignore them. Examples of such symptoms are cognitive impairment, sleepiness during the day, high blood pressure, pauses and gasping while breathing and loud snoring. It is highly recommended that persons who experience such symptoms consult their doctor immediately in order to address the issue.

One of the most common forms of diagnosis is sleep evaluation conducted overnight. Experts say that parents should be wary if their children snore and lack energy in the morning. Other symptoms that parents should look out for are irritability, concentration problems and hyperactivity. In extreme cases, children with sleep apnea may develop attention and hyperactivity deficit, otherwise known as ADHD.
