Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital (OLBH) will be joining other facilities around the country to recognize National Sleep Awareness Week, which is scheduled on March 7-13.
To recognize the week, the hospital’s sleep lab is scheduling the following activities: sleep disorder screenings, educational material concerning sleep, and a CPAP mask re-fitting workshop.
The Awake Well and Keeping Energetic (AWAKE) sleep apnea support group will be meeting at the facility. The AWAKE event is for individuals who have been diagnosed with sleep apnea.
Sleep apnea is a condition that affects a person’s breathing when he/she is asleep. Its primary symptom is when the person stops breathing for a brief interval during sleep. The condition can be classified as either mild, moderate or severe.
