Sexsomnia, wherein sufferers perform sexual activities during sleep, is reported to show more and more cases.
A new Canadian study says that there have been more and more individual reports of Sexsomnia. Behaviors include a full-range of sexual activities, including masturbation.
The sleep laboratory of the Universal Health Network in Toronto discovered that one in 12 individuals admitted that they participated in erotic activities while they were asleep. Most Sexsomnia sufferers are men.
The study focused on 832 patients (428 men and 404 women) will be presented during the Associated Professional Sleep Societies conference, in San Antonio, Texas.
Dr. Sharon Chung, one of the authors of the study, said that they were surprised to see the results.
“Is it a problem?” Dr. Chung asked rhetorically. “As long as you don’t get into legal problems and as long as your partner doesn’t mind, it’s not a problem.”
She joked, “Although it can leave you tired the next day.”
