People who see themselves as living parallel lives with actresses from “Harry’s Law”, “30 Rock” or “Desperate Housewives” are probably having episodes of extreme fatigue during the day. There’s good reason why women are suffering such a problem, and it all boils down to women not being model citizens when it comes getting enough quality sleep.

It’s no surprise that women would rather devote their energies into taking care of their career and family instead of going to bed early. Recent research studies have found that 40 to 60 percent of females suffer from disturbances during sleep which may also be aggravated by other health problems such as obstructive sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome and mood problems such as depression and anxiety.

Researchers also found that estrogen, or the lack of, increases the number of awakenings while decreasing sleep time. That is why women in menopause are at higher risk of suffering from apnea and insomnia.
