Almost one year has passed since Gregg Cleveland was diagnosed with sleep apnea. The disorder, which causes brief pauses in a person’s air flow during sleep, has troubled Cleveland so much that it urged him to speak to the public about his experiences which ultimately led him to undergo diagnosis.
The Fire Chief from the city of LaCrosse shares that “I’d go to bed at night and I’d wake up and I’d be very fatigued. I just assumed I was getting older.” The 52-year-old fireman has been having restless nights for the past two years and has been waking up his wife in the night with his extremely loud snoring.
Cleveland explains that he “decided to go in and have a sleep study done and I had laid down and sleep for only for probably only a couple of hours,” adding that “they came in right away and said, ‘We’ve got all the date we need on you. You have sleep apnea.”
