According to new research, ecstasy users are more eight times more likely to develop sleep apnea than those who are not ecstasy users. Sleep apnea is a common sleep disorder that causes pauses during sleep.

Researchers tested 71 people, who each had at least 25 ecstasy pills for recreational purposes. At the same time, studies were also conducted on 62 healthy individuals who had never taken ecstasy before.

The ecstasy users were computed to have eight times more risk of developing sleep apnea compared to non-ecstasy users. In addition to that, the test patients who ingested more ecstasy pills were more prone to developing the sleep disorder.
