With the high number of deadly accidents this season on the Seward Highway, Alaska State Troopers are taking a unique step to keep drivers safe.
While troopers patrolled the highway on a wet Sunday morning, volunteers and off-duty troopers gathered at the Turnagain Pass Recreation Area to pour coffee and hot chocolate for drivers.
“We’ve had some issues with the motoring public being a little drowsy,” AST Capt. Hans Brinke said.
“It’s good — not bad, but not mine,” motorist Patrick Morin said of the coffee.
Tasty or not, the free cup of coffee forced drivers to take a break.
