A morning jog turns into tragedy for a Texas City man. Police say C.J. Willey, 33, was hit and killed by a driver who fell asleep behind the wheel.
It happened along the Emmett F. Lowry Expressway feeder road in Texas City Saturday morning. Willey, a husband and father of two small children, was running with his back towards oncoming traffic just before 8am when was hit by an out of control car. “The driver had fallen asleep at the wheel,” said Seargent Joe Stanton.
Police say the driver, a 31-year-old nurse, was headed home after her early morning shift at UTMB in Galveston.
