Having a short nap during the middle of the day may help people get rid of their hot temper. Researchers conducted a study involving workers who were made to nap a minimum of 45 minutes in the middle of the day in order to lower their body’s average blood pressure after periods of high psychological stress.
Using electronic gadgets late at night, heightened anxiety due to recession, shift work and lengthened work schedules all contribute to the abnormality of a person’s sleeping habits. Researchers found that people now sleep an average of two hours less compared to figures dating back 50 years. They’ve also found links between sleep disorders and heightened risks of hypertension among persons suffering from sleep apnea.
Meanwhile, Allegheny College’s Dr. Sarah Conklin from Pennsylvania made a trial to study how daytime naps can contribute to recovery of the cardiovascular system. Conklin found that daytime sleep does have a restorative effect on the heart and also lowers drowsiness during the day.
