The Danbury Hospital Sleep Disorders Center recently received program re-accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).

“The center is a significant resource to the local medical community and will provide academic and scientific value in addition to the highest quality care for patients suffering from sleep disorders,” said Dr. Clete Kushida, AASM president.

To receive this prestigious five-year accreditation, a sleep center must meet and exceed all standards of professional health care as stipulated by the AASM.

The accreditation process involves a detailed inspection of the sleep center and its staff, including an evaluation of test procedures, patient contacts, and physician training.

In addition to that, the goals of the facility must be clearly stated and it must include plans that improve the quality of medical care for the community it serves.
