A recent research study by scientists shows that a sedentary style of living significantly increases risks of sleep apnea. The sleep disorder is described by medical experts as diagnosable only when patients are sleeping. The National Institute of Health says that almost 18 million people in America suffer apnea.
People with apnea show common symptoms such as dizziness, poor quality of sleep, headaches in the morning, losing breathe during sleep and loud snoring. Toronto Research Institute Sleep Research Laboratory director Douglas Bradley explains in lieu with the study that regular physical exercise helps break symptoms of apnea.
Meanwhile, University of Utah Sleep Center’s Dr. Robert Simpson says that people should be made more aware of the differences between sleep apnea and snoring. Researchers of the study recommend patients to use basic apnea treatments such as continuous positive airway pressure, nasal pillows with silicone tubes, full face masks or nasal mask systems in order to cure the disorder.
