Beebe Medical’s Sleep Disorder Center will be providing a free monthly clinic for patients who need continuous treatment of a positive airway pressure machine—a common procedure for sleep apnea patients.
The clinic will be open on the first Thursday of every month and is located at the Beebe Sleep Disorder Center, located in Suite 213 of the Medical Arts Building in the Beebe Health Campus on Route 24.
Continuous positive-airway pressure (CPAP) is often used to treat obstructive sleep apnea.
While this may not pose as a serious risk to some individuals, sleep apnea is actually more serious than one thinks. The National Sleep Foundation says that more than 18 million people suffer from sleep apnea, a condition wherein patients wake up several times during the night because they have trouble breathing.
The consequences of this sleep disorder are quite serious. Apart from being linked to drowsiness, depression, hypertension, and coronary heart disease, it is also linked to congestive heart failure.
